Things didn't quite work out how Fry expected. After George's downfall, he expected Kasha to get her old gang back. So he was surprised when George came back off her suspension that Krishna, Lucy and Amy went straight up to her. Krishna took her hand.

"George, we forgive you." she said. "Just promise us you'll never do anything like this again."

George herself had looked surprised.

"But I sent you those texts pretending to be from Kasha, and they were so horrible." she said.

"Because you were scared we'd ditch you. Mr Irons explained everything." Krishna says. "George, we're your friends, you don't have to pretend to be better or smarter or anything. We like you."

Fry watched the group hug in confusion, then went to find Kasha, hanging out with Tommy, who was busy hitting tennis balls against the wall.

"I don't understand." he said.

"What?" Kasha asked.

"How come you aren't friends with your group again." Fry said.

Kasha shrugged. "I made new friends."

"Yeah Fry, friends change all the time." Tommy said. "Like at the start of the year, we hated each other, and now we're cool."

Fry had to agree this was a good point. Maybe things did work out okay after all. Kasha was happy, he was happy, Tommy was happy, and George had finally found her place in the Balance of Power.

"And we are pleased to announce that our Year 4 teacher, Miss Watts, will be leaving us after this term to have a baby." Mrs Patel announces at assembly. "We all wish her well."

The children clap dutifully (apart from Fry, who puts his hands over his ears). Mrs Patel continues.

"Miss Havisham will be taking year 4 in September, and we will have a new teacher taking year 5, who will stay on after Miss Havisham retires at the end of next year."

"No fair!" Tommy explodes as soon as they're out of assembly. "Why couldn't we have the new teacher and not have Havisham?"

"What's wrong with Miss Havisham?" Fry asks.

"She's like a hundred years old." Tommy says, his older brothers having given him the lowdown on various teachers over the years. "And she never uses a computer, ever."

"What if she gets an email?" Teddy asks, coming up behind them.

"The school secretary prints it out and puts it in her intray." Tommy says. "She teaches on a chalk board. Mark said people have tried to make her use computers for years but because she's so close to retiring they just don't bother arguing any more."

The three look behind at the teachers exiting the assembly hall. Certainly Miss Havisham looks rather old, and rather strict. But then Mr Irons is mega strict and they all like him a lot now.

"But it doesn't make sense." Teddy says. "Only the Year 5 classroom has a chalk board. Why isn't she teaching year 5?"

"Because..." Mr Irons has strode up next to them by this point. "There are twenty six kids in the current Year 4, and there will be twenty two in your class next year. The Year 5 classroom fits twenty two perfectly, but it would need to squash in some extra tables to fit twenty six."

He continues towards their own classroom. Fry stops suddenly.

"What?" Teddy asks.

"There's only twenty kids in our class." Fry says. "So that means we're getting more new kids."

"I bet they'll come and visit like last year." Tommy says. "So we'll know some time after half term."

They mean to ask Mr Irons about it, but he has a new announcement, which distracts them from thoughts of the dreaded Miss Havisham.

"You've all had a lot to say about the seating arrangements this year." Mr Irons says. "After half term, we'll be doing something different. You will all decide together how I decide the seats, and we'll vote on it before half term, and whatever you choose we'll go for it."

There is a murmur of interest. Mr Irons picks up the smart board marker.

"Okay, suggestions first, then you're going to try and sell your ideas to each other."

After ten minutes, Mr Irons has the following list:

- Random out of a hat.
- Choose friends and Mr Irons chooses the place
- Choose a seat and if more than one picks the same we pick out a hat
- Choose a seat and if more than one picks the same we do rock paper scissors lizard spock
- We compete and pick seats in order of who got the biggest score.

"Okay." Mr Irons says. "Sorry Tommy, but Battle Royale is out. You've all got a week to think about it and then at the end of the week you're going to vote."

"I vote competition." Fry whispers to Kasha.

"You would." Kasha laughs. "But it could be a wrestling competition or something."

"Then I want us all to stay in the same place." Fry says.
