Fry hovers in a corner, surveying the scene in front of him.
When James had approached yesterday and invited him to his party, he'd expected it to be the usual James sort of affair - an all evening gaming session.
Discovering the rather loud music, presence of many seniors from school, and suspicious looking drinks, was a bit of a surprise. Admittedly it's not as loud as some people have it, but it's difficult to actually hear the conversation.
"Why are we here?" Maurice asks, over the noise. "I thought we were going to play Pokemon Warriers. What are we supposed to do?"
"Maybe we should ask James." Fry says, edging across the wall away from the seniors, who may be a bit drunk. James doesn't look like he's enjoying it that much either.
"James, what are we supposed to do?"
James gestures at the drinks and the music.
"Why aren't we gaming?" Maurice asks.
James gets his notepad and writes. 'This is what fifteen year olds' parties are like. I wanted to try it.'
"Why?" Maurice and Fry ask, in unison.
'My mum doesn't believe I'm capable of doing things like this.'
"Well, I'm surprised your mum agreed to this." Maurice says. "It's turning into a rave. Do you even know half these people? The girl Lenny's snogging definitely doesn't go to our school."
They pause to watch Lenny snogging the girl. It's weirdly mesmorising.
"When are you supposed to breathe, doing that?" Maurice asks.
Fry and James shrug. Fry has a thought.
"James, your mum isn't here. She doesn't even let you use the microwave on your own."
'She won't be back yet. She didn't say I couldn't have a party.'
"She doesn't know?!" Fry asks, aghast. "James, she's going to flip!"
'She doesn't let me do anything.'
"This is not going to help." Fry says.
"Oh no, I'm at an illicit rave!" Maurice says, worriedly. "Drunkeness, fighting, illicit sex!"
James looks a bit unsure now.
'What do you think I should do?'
"Get everyone out of here before someone throws up?" Fry suggests.
Maurice gets his phone and his coat and scarpers to phone one of his mums to pick him up. Fry and James move around trying to persuade people to go, without success. One of the seniors knocks off his mother's vase. James shoots a terrified glance at Fry.
"Come on, we need to find an adult." Fry says, tugging James over to the door. "A sensible adult."
He stops, realising he's in a bar portal. But James knows, so he carries on through.
