Mum helps Fry on with his backpack. She's been driving him into school since Jackson hurt his knee, but they both knew that was going to be difficult for the whole six weeks.

"Are you sure you'll be okay on the bus?" she asks him. "Mrs Carter said she'll come and meet you at the other end."

"Mum, it's a ten minute journey, I'll be okay." Fry says, getting his hands into the crutches. "It's only half an hour when I walk."

She drops him off at the bus stop, and he gets on the number 12. The first thing that becomes apparent is that it's full of kids. He sits right at the front, and tries to appear inconspicuous.

Some of the teens behind him start playing loud music on a phone. It has a high pitched background noise, and unpleasant, mechanical tones. He considers telling them to turn it down, but settles for putting his fingers in his ears.

He is interrupted from this by a ball of paper thrown at the back of his head. He jumps, and the kids laugh.

"What are you doing, you weirdo?" a boy asks him.

Fry ignores him. There's only six minutes until he can get off the bus.

"Maybe he thinks he's too good for our music." A couple of the kids get up and start hanging around him. "What school's this posh blazer from?"

One of them tugs at his blazer to look at the badge, then laughs.

"Oh, Jackson Street. Isn't that like a retard school?"

"No." Fry says. "For a start, I know that it's grammatically incorrect to put 'like' randomly in sentences."

They're not laughing now. Fry braces himself, expecting to get beaten up again, but instead the kids shuffle back to their seats at the back and start badmouthing him and chucking stuff at the back of his head. Then they turn the music up to full volume.

Fry just puts his head in his hands. It's not fair. He can't even go on a bus ride without getting hassled. By the time he gets to the street next to the school, it feels like he's been there for hours.

The bus company have been prewarned that he'll need a hand, so the driver stops for Mrs Carter to get on. She manages to witness them throwing an empty coke can at him.

"Hey! Stop that!" she yells. "Driver, which school do these kids go to?"

"You can't report us, he started it!" one of the boys yells. "By being a knobhead."

The driver gives Mrs Carter the school, but Fry just wants to get out of there. He struggles down the step on his crutches and sets off. She dismounts and catches up with him.

"You okay?" she asks, peering at him.

"No." Fry says.

"Did they hurt you?"

"No. I'm just completely losing faith in my ability to deal with my own generation. Thanks for trying to help though."

She offers to hold his bag, but he declines. They make their way towards the school.

"It's an outrage!" Lenny declares, when Fry relates his morning's adventures at lunch. "What the hell gives those kids the right to hassle you just for blocking out their crappy music?"

Fry shrugs.

"We should do something about it." Lenny continues. "Like the time we built that siege engine."

"But I'll have to face them tomorrow." Fry points out.

"No you don't, Mum'll take you." Maurice says, carefully spooning his mashed potato into three equal triangles. "She saw you get off the bus this morning and told me to tell you she'd give you lifts."

"Oh, thanks." Fry says. "Then how are we going to prank those kids?"

"I'll do it." Lenny says. "I think a round of bluetooth personal embarrassment should do it."

"Amateurs." comes a loud whisper from the next table. They turn and look at the twins, who have declined to eat with them.

"Do you have any better suggestions?" Lenny asks, with sarcasm lost on everyone else.

"Obviously." One of the twins says. There is a pause while everyone looks for the freckle, and identifies him as Jamie.

As the bus pulls into the stop, Lenny gets on, without his school blazer on. He spots the kids, and approaches, pulling out Fry's toy police badge.

"Special Agent Anderson. Which one of you kids was responsible for violating section 23:6 of the Disability Discrimination act this morning?"

The kids stare at him, unsure. He looks like he could be old enough to be a special agent. The driver stops and looks around.

"It was that couple." he says, pointing at some of the kids. "Started throwing stuff at the asparagus boy."

Lenny nods, with serious expression.

"We're not making arrests today, but I'm warning you not to try anything like that again. We have contacted your school and identified you, and we'll be writing to your parents if there are any more incidents."

He gets up and heads out of the bus, with a nod to the driver.

"That'll teach them." he says to the others, as the bus drives off.

"Yeah, thanks Lenny." Fry says.

"You got the stink bombs in?"

"Yep."
