May. 10th, 2011 10:38 pm"ALL RIGHT YOU LOT!" the house sports captain, Hayley, comes in and bangs on the desk. "I need everyone from my house over here, you all need to volunteer for at least one event in sports day."
Coral zips over, as Zara jumps out the window to evade sports. The sporty kids crowd the sixth former and pick all the best events, leaving Coral waiting patiently.
"Right, come on, the rest of you." Hayley says, eying the rest of the room for missing errant house members.
"I'll help, what do you need doing?" Coral asks.
Hayley smiles kindly at Coral. Most of the school know Coral by now, if just as the smallest girl in the school.
"I like your enthusiasm Coral, but... no offence, but you're quite petite."
Coral laughs. "I know, I was premature and small for dates. But if we don't enter someone for each event, the house loses a point per event, and if we enter and come last we get one point per event. I promise I'll practice really hard."
Someone in the class sniggers. Coral ignores them. The sports captain claps her on the shoulder, nearly knocking her over the desk.
"All right, you've convinced me."

"You volunteered for the one thousand five hundred metres?" Zara says, in disbelief. "Why?"
"Someone needed to do it." Coral says.
"It's only a house competition, it doesn't mean anything." Zara says. "Oh well, at least I don't have to do anything."
"Will you help me train? Time me and stuff?" Coral asks.
"If you insist." Zara sighs. "Don't get your hopes up though, I mean, you're not exactly athletic, Coral."
